The Perfect House For Surviving A Zombie Apocalypse Is For Sale

Culture Buzz (http://www.buzzfeed.com/category/Culture) Situated deep within the Adirondack State Park in Upstate New York, this cabin was built atop a cold-war era missile silo and is currently on the market (http://www.coldwarmissilesilo.com/index.htm) for only $1.75 million dollars. It's basically perfect for surviving any sort of end of the world scenario.

The above-ground home is 2,000 square feet. But if you use the keypad entry to the basement, you’ll find 2,300 more square feet that was a former launch control center and has been converted with dining and entertainment space and two bedroom suites – complete with marble bathrooms. It has 10-foot tall ceilings, simulated daylight and an open floor plan.

Inside the missile silo. It's 9-story structure where a missile was once housed. It’s currently empty, but would be perfect for underground condos

If the house is 2,000 sq ft and the under ground house is an additional 2,300 sq ft... then if the sketches are even close to being in the proper scale, there's about another 12,000 sq ft in the silo area.
That much storage space makes my head spin... :willy_nilly:

If only that were in UT or AZ, we'd just need about 12 families willing to finance $150,000 each, and we'd have a heck of a time share with each family having about 1,000 sq ft of personal/private space to do with what they wanted in the silo area.
Wonder how many acres come with it, and just try to imagine having the only private property in the middle of a state park, where no one could ever build anywhere near you...
I'd be all over that... with the right group of people (and once again, if it were out here somewhere).

Think for a moment... how much the government spent, just to dig that hole...
Then look at the house above ground, below ground, the runway and who knows how many acres of prime real estate it's sitting on... wow.

If you click on the "on the market" link, you'll see some very interesting info on this Silo Home.
The home and silo (w/19.2 acres) are actually only $750,000.... not 1.75 million.
The runway and hanger (w/10.75 acres) are $125,000.

The 1.75 million includes a total of 125 acres, which is the home and silo, with the hanger and runway, with 7 other building lots that range from 3 to 9 acres each, with another log home on 4.1 acres (that also sits on the runway).

MISSLE SILO-Home Built on Former Missile Base (19.20 Acres) Offering Underground Living & Access to Missile Silo NEW LIST PRICE $750,000

Aircraft Hanger Building on 10.75 acres NEW LIST PRICE $125,000. 7 Building Lots Ranging From 3 -9 Acres Overlooking White Face Mountain NEW LIST PRICE $68,000 Per Lot. PHASE 2 (125 Acres of Land) NEW LIST PRICE $150,000. Log Home on 4.1 Acres with Runway Access for Airplane NEW LIST PRICE $259,000.

Total Package $ 1,760,000

Someone with some finacial backing and ingenuity, could actually make this into a money making venture. :001_cool:
I'm just saying...

This home is at the extreme of my commute distance to work.

Several of those who know me and my preperatory mindset, gun habit etc, indicated this was the perfect location for me to buy.

It started before I even reloacated.

Evidently the price has dropped quite a bit as well recently.

Still about 400K higher than I can stretch the budget though.

Wasn't Joel Skousen into making communities for preppers? How did that turn out in the end - anyone know?

Hey, i was going to buy this but backed out before closing because the seller could not furnish an affadavit from the Russians guaranteeing that the site was removed from their target list:wink5:

My concern would be ability to grow additional food, however, if you had enough food to get you through two years, the winters would take care of much of the zombie issue.
