Why would anyone even waist their time making such a video in the first place?

Short of being a test for gullability it was a waste of time.

So Aldon, did you try it?

I am an electronics engineer....so no, I did not try it.

Not having schematic I cant with absolute certainty say it would not allow the set to turn on........but if it did it would have to have stored energy and the battery would have to free a relay only.....

The DC AAA battery will not power a TV...Period.

interesting. Thanks

I also wonder if this might not be a prank....

I wonder if by doing this that it might not discharge stored power from the TV into the battery and possibly burst or explode the battery like a overcharged capacitor.

It has been a long time since I looked at a TV schematic.....

So if one of you tried this, inform me if I am in total error.

Aldon, you are not in total error, as a trained electrician and electronics technician (haven't done much of either since leaving the military) I concur 100% that this will not work. The schmuck that made this video made a few others that are basically gullibility test balloons.
