Default Ceramic Water Filter Kits For Your DIY Bucket Water Filter

This is the kit you get!

This is what the kit can make with YOUR own buckets!

    This is how it works

    Home-made Ceramic

    Water Filter Kit Group Buy

I have these in stock and can continue to fill orders!

This buy is for items pictured in the first image above which includes: Ceramic gravity drip type water filter with an activated coconut charcoal core, all the needed gaskets (note: 3 black O rings as shown in top picture are no longer included as they are not needed), a spigot (color varies from what's shown), a filter sock that fits over the ceramic filter, and a large 1-micron (80%) pre-filter bag (11" x 32") (Note: cloth handle pictured is no longer included).

    Price for Water Filter Kit:
$36 (if picked up & includes UT sales tax)
    $44 (shipped)

You will also need 2 plastic buckets (any size will do) and 2 tear-tab lids, which you will need to get yourself. In Utah County, Macey's currently has the best prices on 5-gal. buckets. If you go to Industrial Container in SLC, they have better prices on buckets and my favorite tear-tab lid (the tear-tab lid with an O-ring), but you'd have either have to pay for the gas to drive there (it's about like driving to the airport) or do a group buy on the Industrial Container buckets. (Delivery for the buckets is free to Utah County for orders over $500, and only costs $15 for bucket orders from $200 - $499.) Although we all love Gamma Seal lids, they are NOT the best kind of lid for this filter. Just get regular, tear-tab lids. Macey's, Winco, Chirine in Alpine, and Wal Mart all only carry 5-gal. buckets. Other than Industrial Container, Emergency Essentials is the only place I'm aware of with 4.25- and 6-gal. buckets. The BYU Creamery has used 3-gal. ice cream buckets for 50 each including the lid!

These filters are wonderful, amazing, and so incredibly reasonably priced that everyone can (and I believe should) get one. This is a key thing for your family to be able to have plenty of clean water after your water storage runs out. The water we store will give us a week or two to find a new water source, and then these filters will purify that water for us in bulk for one long time. The activated coconut charcoal in the center has no shelf-life but has an adsorption limit at about 5,000 gallons. It collects chemicals like heavy metals, chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, etc. Of course how long the charcoal will work depends on how dirty the water is you're filtering. When the water being filtered finally slowly starts to have a regular water taste (instead of the delicious "no taste" that charcoal filtering provides), the charcoal is reaching it's adsorption limit. The ceramic, however, continues to work and can be cleaned off with a soft cloth over 100 times. The need for cleaning the ceramic will be quite rare if you use the large, 1 micron PRE-FILTER BAG that also comes with this kit.The ceramic is filtering out protozoa, bacteria, and even viruses (because they attach to bacteria in order to stay alive). But viruses are seldom in water.

The large, 1-micron, pre-filter bag that comes with this will extend the life of your filter a great deal and should always be used. (note it performs at 1-micron about 80% of the time)

Ceramic globe filter is manufactured to meet:

National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) Standards 42 & 53
    ISO 9002 Quality Standard
    USA AEL Laboratories
    USA Analytical Food Laboratories
    USA Johns Hopkins University
    British 5750 Quality Standard
England's Water Research council (WRc) Performance Standards

The filtration efficiency is 0.2 micron with removal capabilities:

    99% Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S)
    95% Chlorine and Chloramines
    99% Taste
    99% Odor
    98% Aluminum
    96% Iron
    98% Lead

    85% Herbicides
    85% Insecticides
    90% Rodenticides
    85% Phenols
    85% MTBE
    85% Perchlorate
    80% Trihalomethanes
    95% Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons
99.999% of particles larger than 0.5 micron (Staffordshire University Labs) (includes Anthrax)
99.7% of particles larger than 0.3 micron (Staffordshire University Labs)
98% of particles larger than 0.2 micron (Staffordshire University Labs)
    100% of Giardia Lamblia
    100% Cyclospora
100% removal of live Cryptosporidium (WRcStandard)
100% removal of Cryptosporidium (NSF Standard 53 - A.C. fine dust - 4 log challenge)
100% removal of E. Coli, Vibrio Cholerae (John Hopkins University)
99.999% removal of Salmonella Typhil, Shigella Dysenteria, Klebsiella Twrrigena (Hyder Labs)

This product is silver impregnated and will not permit bacteria growth-through (mitosis). It provides a hostile environment for all microbiological organisms and will not support their growth.

    Performance Features include :

    • Easy installation
    • Good flow rate / 14 to 20 gallons per day (gravity flow) - takes a few days of continuous use to reach this rate.
    • Filter will accept water from floods, lake, rain, well, tap, river or stream.
Charcoal life is extended by shaking filter every 3-4 months to loosen media inside and prevent packing.
    • Once in use, the charcoal will continue to adsorb for about 8 months or for about 5,000 gallons.
    • The ceramic can continue to filter until it's worn too thin, which the head of the organzation that makes this filter has never seen happen.
Ceramic elements may be cleaned 100 or more times with a soft brush or damp cloth.
