    Default Vacum Sealers?????

My wife wants to get a vacum sealer. I know nothing about them. What brands do you all recommend.

I have a Black and Decker. I have found that you need to buy the thicker bags because some things dry harder with sharp edges (Pokes holes in the bag) or double bag.

I have the Food Saver. It's a decent price. I actually bought my second one a few months ago at a thrift store--brand new in the box, for $5.50. They all go on sale here around hunting season. Worth the money, esp if you re-use the bags.

Food Saver. Have had two other brands, Deni and Seal-A-Meal.

They both gave out after about a year. Have had my Food Saver now for 5 years, and it is still going strong. I use it all the time! I paid $70.00 new for mine.

I have a Food Saver, too (the v3840). The first one I bought had problems after something got sucked up into the hose attachment. Jarden replaced it within a couple of days and the new one has run like a champ for about 4 years now.
