I heard about that yesterday. There have been plague ridden animals around Colorado for a while, though. The prairie dogs in Gunbarrel have been known to carry bubonic plague for years. But I guess this is the first time someone caught it from a dog.

A old associate of mine used to be a big varmint hunter. He would load up thousands of rounds of ammo just to go blast prairie dogs. I asked him once why he never brought any prairie dogs home. He told me that going into prairie dog towns was for fools. When I asked why, he told me about the plague thing. I was amazed that there would be reservoirs of that old killer still in the wild. I had no idea!
