Have been searching for a good price on canning jar lids without much success. Was particularly interested in wide-mouth flats. Found that in my area they go for anywhere from $2.50-$4.29 for a box of 12. Imagine my delight to find this website: http://www.fillmorecontainer.com/Lids/86mm-Widemouth-Lids-Bulk.htm
You have to purchase in bulk, but with the shipping these will end costing me about $1.69 per 12 (if you break down the price). So excited! Perhaps some of you will be happy to find this as well.

I'm confused...
Description: 86mm Generic Widemouth Lids - BULK - Available only in quantities of 288
Case Qty: 1728
Cases Price: $217.73
Each Price: $40.32

So is that $40.32 for 288 lids?

I was confused too. (Thought it was just me.) I wrote the company an email and this is there response:
The minimum purchase is 288 lids at $40.32 or $0.14 each. There are 6 lots of 288 lids in a case (1728 lids) if you were to purchase a case the cost would be $217.73 or $.126 each. Shipping to me for the full case of 1728 lids would be $25.50.

Have you used these lids yet? My sister-in-law told me today about lids women in her ward/stake were ordering in bulk, sounded very similar to these. She said the rubber is gray and they come in a long "sleeve". She said that the rubber stuck to the jar when you opened the jar. Just wondering what you thought of the quality of these lids, if you had any problem with the rubber sticking.

Had some things come up and haven't ordered them yet. Should be ordering them in the next couple of days. I'll let you know after I get them. Was told these are actually manufactured by Ball.
Last week I found some old lids in my stocks that had a grey rubbery seal. I'll have to look and see who made them. Canned some beef with them and when I went to clean the jars - ugh, there was this rubber cement type of sticky mess around the rim. Afraid it may have gotten inside the rim too. Don't think anybody manufactures this type any more and for good reason. I will ask what the seal looks like before I order.
